Rokytera – captive breed by Martin Pěnkava

Welcome to Rokytera

Leopard geckos have been part of my life for more than 20 years. I started keeping them when I was about twelve, and I still have my very first gecko, who is now around 21 years old. Although terrarium keeping has accompanied me for a large part of my life, for many years I had no ambition to breed geckos. I kept them simply for the joy of it.

The idea of starting our own breeding project gradually emerged over the last few years. My partner also became interested in terrarium animals, and because we now have the necessary space and share the same enthusiasm, we decided to establish a small family breeding project under the name Rokytera.

Our focus

Orange is my favourite colour, so we want to focus primarily on Tangerine leopard geckos and gradually build high-quality breeding groups selected for intense coloration, health and excellent condition.

Careful selection of breeding animals and the best possible knowledge of their origin are very important to us. I therefore try to acquire animals from trusted breeders and give preference to individuals with known origins and reliable background information.

This is also why I created a system of breeding records on the website. It allows us to document the development of individual juveniles, regularly add photographs and record other important information. Visitors can also view an animal's parents and the breeding group from which it originates.

I want future owners to have the clearest possible idea not only of what a gecko looks like today, but also of its origin and development over time. We will therefore aim to provide all the information available to us for every juvenile.

We expect our first home-bred juveniles in 2027.

Our own feeder animals

We started by breeding our own feeder insects and other feeder animals. We keep crickets, mealworms, superworms and mice. A large part of our animals' diet comes from our own breeding, giving us better control over the origin, condition and feeding of the prey offered to them. And now we are finally starting to breed our own leopard geckos as well. :)

What you will find here

On the Rokytera website, we will gradually introduce our breeding groups and offer juveniles bred by us. For every available gecko, we want to provide clear information, current photographs, its price and availability status.

In time, we would also like to publish articles about keeping leopard geckos, breeding feeder insects, equipping breeding facilities and other terrarium-related topics. We want to share not only our successes, but also the experience we gain while developing our breeding project.

Where to find us

We are based in Rokycany in the Pilsen Region, Czech Republic. Visits and animal handovers are possible only by prior arrangement.
